Access to quality, affordable health care is not only a basic right, it is a necessary ingredient to our success as a society. Almost 3 million New Yorkers, 17 percent of the non-elderly population, do not have health insurance.
It is even worse in New York City where 1 in 4 non-elderly residents lack health insurance. New York needs to move toward universal coverage so that every single person gets the health care they need.
