Extend Medicaid coverage from 60 days to a year for new moms

I will work to tackle the high infant and maternal mortality rates. The mortality rate for Black infants in Ohio is three times as high as the rate for white infants. Black women are three to four times more likely to die from childbirth and pregnancy-related causes than white women. We should extend Medicaid coverage-which covers nearly half of all births-from 60 days to one year for new moms. We must act to remove discrimination and bias in health care. We must pass and expand the child tax credit

Brown said more than 70,000 households in her district benefitted from the tax credit, getting an average of $435 each month that took care of utilities or rent or put food on the table. "I agree with Sen. Brown that nothing is off the table," Brown said. "We have to do everything that we can, especially during these unprecedented times to make sure that we pass and expand the child tax credit."
