Jason Conger on Abortion

Strongly pro-life, but not a Senate priority

"Oregon is the only state that hasn't chipped away at every woman's fundamental right to reproductive health care and freedom, and Jason Conger's extreme views disqualify him from being able to represent Oregon values," the Oregon Democratic Party said in a statement. "Conger has received thousands of dollars in support from Oregon Right to Life--and in return has sponsored legislation that would take access to reproductive health care a step backward, including restricting abortion even in the case of rape and incest."

Conger described himself as "strongly pro-life," but added that "the U.S. Senate doesn't play a big role" in crafting abortion law and "that's not what I'm expecting to spend my time doing in [Washington] D.C."
