Public education must not depend upon zip code

Our public education system must not depend upon the zip code where one lives or the size of the parent's pocketbook in order to receive a good education. The problems begin before a student enters a classroom and our focus should include improving the opportunities for children to learn to be successful in school before they ever attend school while contributing the resources to the public schools so that teachers can do a better job of teaching. Our country was built on the notion of public education

The quality of public education should not depend on the size of a parent's wallet or the zip code in which they live, nor should children be subject to failing schools that do not meet their needs.

Our children should be given every opportunity to be successful, starting at the kindergarten level. Our country was built on the notion of public education and its promise as the path to success. Public schools must be challenged to meet the needs of students. Let's make it work for our children.
