God gave man dominion over the animals

A: My youngest daughter is a veterinarian. She told me about a program where they bred dogs to be used for "practice" for the students. After the students practiced surgical procedures on the animals, they were respectfully euthanized and they even had a memorial service for what these animals sacrificed for the betterment of veterinarian medicine. She said the students are very humbled by this and are very respectful and most of them cried at the service. The animals are not tortured and are kept comfortable. I think that if we need animals to practice on for human welfare, that that is acceptable provided the animals are treated as humanely as possible. God gave man dominion over the animals so I think that he would also be in favor of animals being used to provide better treatment for humankind rather than practicing on other humans.
