FactCheck: World was not "at peace" when Trump left office
[On world peace]: "President Biden inherited...a rebuilt military and a world that was stable and at peace. Beyond our border from Afghanistan to Ukraine, from North Korea to Iran, President Biden's weakness puts our nation and the world at risk and the
President's refusal to stand up to China, our most formidable adversary, is dangerous and unacceptable."FactCheck by CNN (2/8/23):
Sanders claimed that after Trump left office, Biden inherited "a world that was stable and at peace." When Trump left the White House in 2021, there were still plenty of wars ongoing around the world. For instance, Trump did not end the war in
Afghanistan, which was still ongoing when Biden took office. There were thousands of US troops in the country when Biden was sworn in, before he withdrew them all in 2021.

Soldiers deserve to know we fight for freedom in US
A young soldier came up to me and said, 'Sarah, you have a tough job.' I told him 'What I do is nothing. You take bombs and bullets. That's a tough job.' That young man and everyone who has served before him,
all of those who serve alongside him, and the thousands we know who will be called upon to serve after him, deserve to know they have a country and community back home doing our part in the fight for freedom.

We're not looking to annihilate North Korea, but we could
In the spring of 2018, US and North Korean officials negotiated the potential summit between President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim-Jong-Un. A summit between the American and
North Korean leaders would be a first--and unthinkable because the two countries were on the verge of war. We wanted the leadership of North Korea to know that America would not be bullied.
They were threatening the strongest military on the face of the earth, and if they started a war with the United States, it would end in their deaths. General Jim Mattis delivered the statement, which included a line I wrote: "We are not looking for
the total annihilation of a country, namely North Korea. But we have many options to do so." Afterward General Mattis turned to me and said, "You're tough. The only job I'd want less in the administration than mine is yours."

On Holocaust memorial: Why didn't somebody do something?
Many years ago, an 11-year-old girl and her family traveled to Israel. One of their last stops was to Yad Vashem, which commemorates the Nazi genocide against the Jewish people. The girl's parents weren't sure if she was ready for it, but they wanted
her to understand the importance of standing up against evil. Yad Vashem in Hebrew means "a memorial and a name", and its goal is to memorialize the Holocaust and all the Jewish people who were killed. The girl didn't speak as she walked through the Yad
Vashem. They got to the end and there was a guest book for visitors to sign. The hadn't said a word since entering Yad Vashem, but in the book the girl carefully wrote: "Why didn't somebody do something?" tears welled in her father's eyes, and in that
moment he knew that she got it."Why didn't somebody do something?" The little girl understood. All it takes for evil to win is for good people to do nothing. The reason I know that story is because I was that little girl.
