Susan Bysiewicz on Crime

Decline in violent crime due to strict gun safety laws

Bysiewicz said the decline in violent crimes can be directly attributed to more strict gun safety and related laws. She said aggravated assault is down 23%, robbery is down 24%, rape is down 21% and motor vehicle thefts are down 28%. "These are significant declines and we are very proud of the progress," Bysiewicz said. "Even though we've had some really good progress, we know we have more work to do."
