American Conspiracies: Lies, Lies, and More Dirty Lies that the Government Tells Us, by Gov. Jesse Ventura
(Click for Amazon book review)
OnTheIssues.org BOOK REVIEW:
This book is not by a conspiracy theorist. It's by a former elected Governor, examining conspiracy theories. This particular former elected Governor is in a great position to listen to the conspiracy theorists and judge which parts are valid and which parts are nuts-- because the establishment considers Jesse Ventura nuts, when in fact he is a valid representative of the American people. The establishment parties and pundits consider Governor Ventura a fluke at best and an aberration of the electoral system at worst--and that is his strongest credential to take on the establishment. That's because the establishment parties and pundits are exactly the people who have hidden the facts from the American people about every incident described in this book.
Gov. Ventura generally does not believe there were conspiracies in the sense of a cabal of evildoers planning assassinations. But he certainly believes--and proves with solid evidence--that the federal and state governments knowingly covered up information, actively hid facts from the American people, and did everything possible to ignore the truth. That applies to just about every conspiratorial incident described in this book. Conspiracy by cover-up is just as bad in a democracy as the cabal of evildoers. The establishment hates Gov. Ventura--and dismisses this book--because he has exposed them for the conspirators that they are.
This book is a worthwhile read for any American who wants to proudly wear the title of "citizen". This is what citizenship is all about--speaking truth to power--and we should all back up Gov. Ventura against the tide of hypocritical forked-tongue defenses that the establishment politicians and pundits put forth against him.
