Ashley Moody on Government Reform

Oppose unelected bureaucrats cramming down regulations

Gov. Ron DeSantis praised Moody as a key player in his political battles, a "law and order" prosecutor who is prepared to help Trump "secure and shut the border," hinder inflation and overhaul what the Florida governor described as a federal bureaucracy that has "run amok."

"I'm ready to show up and fight for this nation and fight for [President-elect] Trump to deliver his America First agenda on day one," Moody said. "The only way to return this country to the people, the people who govern it, is to make sure we have a strong Congress doing its job, passing laws and actually approving the regulations that these unelected bureaucrats are trying to cram down on the American people," Moody added.

Moody began her career with the law firm Holland & Knight, where she practiced commercial litigation. In her spare time, she volunteered to assist domestic violence victims seeking protection in court

Signed onto lawsuit attempting to overturn 2020 election

Moody was also among the state attorneys general to sign on to the lawsuit backed by Trump that was aimed at overturning Joe Biden's election victory in 2020. In the past year, Moody has filed lawsuits and joined lawsuits to take on the "weaponization of law enforcement" that targeted Trump, taking on special counsel Jack Smith and the New York Attorney General's Office with their cases against the then-former president.

Ease regulations to allow rebuilding after hurricanes

Moody is calling on the Federal Emergency Management Agency to ease the burden on Florida families still recovering from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. In the aftermath of the storms, strict regulations by the National Flood Insurance Plan are preventing many families from rebuilding or repairing homes. Attorney General Moody is calling on the federal government to ease these regulations and consider making variances available to help Floridians rebuild.

Supported brief allowing Virginia to purge voter rolls

Moody and attorneys general from 24 other states are filing an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to allow Virginia to remove noncitizens from voter rolls. Moody said, "States have a duty to maintain their voter rolls to ensure that only American citizens are able to vote. Virginia is trying to remove voters who have self-identified as noncitizens and yet the Biden-Harris administration is aggressively pushing back seemingly in favor of allowing noncitizens to vote in this upcoming election."
