John James on Principles & Values

From slave to senate candidate in four generations

John Edward James, who turns 39 in June, is a rare political type: an African-American Republican. His great-great-grandfather was born a slave in Mississippi, and he likes to chronicle a brief family history: "In four generations, we've gone from a slave to a sharecropper to a mason to a truck driver and now potentially to a senator. That is absolutely remarkable, not just for our family but for our country."

Liberal violence is construed as speech

He warns about risks to free speech: "Liberal violence is construed as speech, and conservative speech is construed as violence."

I believe that my God wants me to run

The influence of God and spouses in the GOP U.S. Senate race was on the table during last week's first and only TV debate between John James and Sandy Pensler.

"I believe that my God wants me to run," James said.

But when asked if God want him in the U.S. Senate, Sandy said he doesn't know. James believes God wants him in a position to protect and preserve life. As for the outcome of the race:

"The result is up to him. The race is up to us," he said.

Fight for the Constitution's principles, as written

Supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States means abiding by it as written. I will fight to preserve separation of powers, fight for limited government and will approve justices who will interpret the constitution as written.

Endorsed by Donald Trump/MAGA after presidency.

James is endorsed by Trump/MAGA endorsement list

Endorsements by Donald Trump, implying support of Trump's agenda and electoral style. The phrase `Make America Great Again` was popularized in Trump`s 2015 book Time to Get Tough:Making America Great Again. It is the campaign slogan embroidered on the ubiquitous red caps seen at Trump rallies (which after Trump`s presidency, became known as `MAGA rallies`).
