David McCormick on Foreign Policy

Ensure the United States stands up for itself in the world

However, the national renewal agenda will not be possible without leadership to ensure the United States stands up for itself in the world, confronts China, builds new coalitions of willing partners, and reasserts leadership in this new era of geopolitical confrontation. And it will not be possible without leadership across the core institutions of American life to revive the American spirit--the restlessness that comes with liberty and the ambition born of access to the American dream.

Oppose China to practice and preserve our exceptionalism

Communist China believes the sun is setting on America. It aspires to supplant us and impose its will around the world. The stakes could not be higher. If we don't act, who else will stand up to Communist China? Who else will defend American values or uphold the peace, prosperity, and liberty we have enjoyed for generations? Without a plan to restore American strength, how will it be possible for us to practice and preserve our exceptionalism?

Promote equality and pluralism around the world

McCormick has championed the role of a strong United States on the world stage and has advocated for the idea that the United States can focus on addressing domestic issues while also leading efforts to promote human rights.˙In 2016 he stated, "If we are to promote equality and pluralism around the world, we must walk towards, rather than away from, our unique success in advancing these values at home while still embracing the idea that America is, and always will be, a work in progress".

Sanction China for its crimes; reparations for COVID

Dave supports a whole-of-nation strategy to combat China's growing economic and military influence including: moving critical supply chains out of China and bringing manufacturing jobs back home; protecting American jobs and intellectual property; sanctioning China for its crimes; seeking reparations for COVID; reviewing U.S. investment in China; continuing the fair trade policies put in place by President Trump; and ensuring America remains the world's unrivaled military and economic superpower.
