Increase trade and foreign direct investment in Mexico

Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez will host the inaugural Economic Forum of the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) and the Mexican Association of Secretaries of Economic Development (AMSDE) from February 8-10, 2013, in Santa Fe. The NLGA will officially sign an agreement of economic development cooperation with AMSDE officials from Mexico, the third largest trade partner of the US and the largest market destination for New Mexico exports. "The NLGA and AMSDE will begin an exchange program to promote best practices and personal networking," said Sanchez. "Mexico has been a target trade country for this administration and we hope to continue the trend of rapid growth that has taken place over the past two years."

Sanchez will moderate a roundtable discussion on exports and foreign direct investment (FDI).New Mexico exports to Mexico more than doubled between 2005 and 2011, and the opportunity for FDI has also improved as a result.
