Voting for third party candidates wakes up the two parties

Just allowing the political pendulum to swing from the left to the right and back again never seems to solve our issues; there is so little difference in the results. If the only thing that voting for third party candidates accomplishes is to wake up the two parties normally in control, I'm all for it. Many people say a vote for a third party is a wasted vote, but I think people truly `waste' their votes when they are closed-minded to changing their support to others than Republicans and Democrats.

Lugar is at the end of his popularity

Osborn said in a recent interview that he believes Lugar is at the "end of his popularity" in Indiana and thus vulnerable.

Indiana is only state with no Democrat on Senate ballot

The Indiana Democratic Party is conceding defeat: It can't beat Sen. Richard Lugar and won't even try. By not fielding a candidate, he said, Democrats can focus their time and money on their key targets this year: win back the Indiana House and more of the state's nine congressional seats.

Lugar, however, will have opposition on the Nov. 7 general election ballot, from Libertarian Steve Osborn. Indiana is the only state without both a Republican and Democrat on the ballot for a Senate seat this year

Married 30 years; 4 sons; clerk at his LDS church

Osborn is 52 years old, has been married for 30 years, and has four sons in college, one daughter in high school, and two grandchildren. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and serves as the clerk in the La Porte congregation. He holds amateur and professional federal radio operator licenses, and has worked in the wireless industry for 24 years with considerable experience in emergency and disaster communications and telephone interconnection.
