Scott Keller on Welfare & Poverty
|
|
Welfare is a very ineffective approach to solving poverty
Q: Do you agree that "We shouldn't NEED welfare; but let churches provide it"?A: Partially correct. Additional/clarified stances:
- Let churches provide it, but don't leave it to them.
- Fix the economic model such that welfare isn't necessary.
- Work on a local level--local economic models, local coops, innovative approaches, food growth, etc.
-
Together we can eliminate all poverty and hunger and welfare will become obsolete.
- Welfare is not a "moral" issue.
-
Welfare is a bad, very ineffective approach to solving poverty.
- Welfare perpetuates poverty.

Favors allowing churches to provide welfare services
Q: Your opinion on our VoteMatch statement, "Allow churches to provide welfare services"?A: Favor. End welfare by overhauling the economic model as mentioned elsewhere. Allow churches to help and everyone else who wants to.
What's the point of stopping them? Government should not be in the welfare business. End taxation, return to sovereign money, distribute new currency to states and localities for economic needs.

We shouldn't NEED welfare; but let churches provide it
Q: What is your opinion on the statement, "Allow churches to provide welfare services"?A: Support. But we shouldn't NEED welfare services. If we'd approach economics properly and with innovation, with a pro-human requirement then everyone
would have what they need and much of what they want while having a much smaller federal government and a significantly advanced
America and a significantly advanced humanity. Churches already supply welfare services. Nobody needs to allow them to do this. If we mean have the federal government
PAY churches to do it, that's a very bad idea. So much more to share. So many ideas, so many solutions, so much frustration with politicians who don't seem to get it.
