Social Security shouldn't be people's sole retirement plan

When the Social Security system was created, the expectation was that all working individuals would consciously plan and save for their retirement. Social Security was not intended to be the retirement plan for all Americans. Many of the problems facing Social Security have been caused because it has become the sole retirement plan for many. We must address the problems with Social Security quickly, before they are aggravated even more. There are many options for reform which have been placed on the table. I believe that any reform must include the assurance of the promised benefits for those 45 years of age and older. These Americans have paid into the current system - they justly deserve to receive its benefits. At the same time, we must find a solution that will ensure Social Security's solvency for future generations. Once I reach Capitol Hill, I will take the lead in finding this solution.
