Every child in America is entitled to the gift of education

My parents' most prized gift to me was an education. I firmly believe that every child in America is entitled to this same gift. Unfortunately, however, our current education system is not evenly bestowing its gift of knowledge upon all children. I believe education policy issues are best determined at the local level, and the federal government too often overreaches its authority. Our education system cannot be "one size fits all", but must take into account many things - availability of resources, student economic status, student background. For that reason, as Senator I will take the lead in demanding that our education system serve all America's children, rural or urban, rich or poor, black, white or brown. Every child should have the same opportunity as the next to live the American dream, a dream that is made possible by a quality education.
