Phil Murphy on Abortion

Women's health care in America is in a state of crisis

There is no sugarcoating it: Women's health care in America is in a state of crisis. Here in Jersey, before that dreadful Dobbs decision came down, we codified the right to an abortion. We restored funding for Planned Parenthood and family planning services--after eight years, before us, of zero funding. And later this year we will take another step. As women will be able to walk into a New Jersey pharmacy and buy birth control. Without a prescription.

Will sign bill securing woman's right to choose into law

I thank and congratulate the Legislature on passing and sending to my desk a bill that will secure a woman's access to reproductive care and her right to choose into state law. These decisions must be kept between a woman and her doctor, period. I will sign this into law this week. And I am especially proud that we are getting this done before the United States Supreme Court renders its ruling challenging Roe v Wade, which it is poised to overturn.

Codify woman's full reproductive rights into state law

I'm proud we are fighting the Trump administration's efforts to block women from receiving vital information critical for them to make important decisions. We've protected funding for Planned Parenthood and women's health care. This must go beyond just providing funding to make up for the loss of Title X money. It's about protecting a woman's fundamental and constitutional right to full reproductive freedom. Let's commit to codifying a woman's full reproductive rights in state law.

Support funding for Planned Parenthood

Governor Christie sold out to right-wing special interests in order to further his own political ambitions. He has attacked women's rights at every step, vetoing efforts to ensure equal pay and cutting funding for Planned Parenthood. Then, he became a lead surrogate for the most misogynistic campaign this country has seen.
