Teri Hourihan on Immigration

Secure borders within strong legal immigration

Q: Your opinion on "Pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens"?

A: I support secure borders, effective border control, and a strong legal immigration system, while recognizing humanitarian and other legitimate circumstances that must be addressed responsibly. I also support a structured pathway to legal status and citizenship for undocumented individuals who meet established requirements, such as background checks and compliance with the legal process. We should provide clear resources to help people navigate the immigration system, reduce unnecessary barriers and delays, and make legal immigration more efficient. We can enforce our laws and protect our border while treating people with dignity and providing a reasonable legal pathway for those seeking to become contributing American citizens.
