Tony Sanchez on Health Care

Former Democratic Challenger TX Governor

Will prod insurance industry to make prompt payments

I will appoint a physician to the Department of Insurance to make sure doctors and patients make the decisions. We need to help seniors by bringing down the cost of prescription drugs. And it's time rural Texans had access to high quality health care. We can do this by creating incentives for doctors to practice in rural areas. I have vowed to pass new prompt-pay legislation that will require insurance companies to make timely payments.

Sanction lawyers for "frivolous" medical malpractice suits

Sanchez said he wants to address a medical malpractice crisis, especially in South Texas. "On medical malpractice issues, I will support aggressive measures to sanction lawyers who pursue malicious and frivolous suits," Sanchez said.
