Colia Clark on Homeland Security

Immediate repeal of the USA PATRIOT Act

Q: Does the Patriot Act harm civil liberties?

A: SUPPORT - I call for the immediate repeal of the USA PATRIOT Act. Many of its provisions, along with many of the other so-called National Security Acts, undermine and erode our Bill of Rights, and contribute to the destruction of the democratic foundation of checks and balances between the branches of government. All such systematic degradation or elimination of our constitutional protections must stop, and corrective measures need to be taken in a timely manner by Congress to fully reinstate all such losses of guaranteed citizen protections.

Cut the present defense budget by 50%

Q: What do you think about expanding the armed forces?

A: OPPOSE - As U.S. Senator from New York, I will propose legislation to pay for education and other domestic needs by cutting the present defense budget by fifty percent (50%), placing a surtax on war profiteering industries, and ending the no tax option for defense industries. It will be my business to create legislation that outlaws all military induction centers in areas of high schools and colleges.
