The U.S. can't tolerate cowardly acts of terrorism

Q: What are the most important challenges facing the U.S. in foreign relations?

Jason Kander: As a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, keeping our country safe is my top priority. ISIS is the greatest threat facing our country and the U.S. can't tolerate cowardly acts of terrorism. Congress needs to come together to develop a targeted, comprehensive plan to destroy ISIS and work together with our allies so our brave soldiers have a coherent strategy.

Served as military intelligence officer in Afghanistan

The values instilled in him by his parents are why Jason felt a calling to military service following 9/11. Jason served as a military intelligence officer in Afghanistan, investigating groups and individuals suspected of corruption, espionage, drug trafficking, and facilitating Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Jason's commanders described him as an "outstanding leader" and the Afghan Intelligence Watch Commander said Jason's "hard work directly resulted in arresting enemies and saving lives."

After his deployment, Jason came home to Missouri, becoming a leadership instructor in the Missouri Army National Guard's Officer Candidate School at Fort Leonard Wood, where he trained hundreds of soldiers to lead troops into combat.
