Gabriel Gomez on Energy & Oil

I believe that there is global warming
Q: In a liberal state where the GOP agenda is not all that popular, where do you differ from most Senate Republicans?GOMEZ: Congressman Markey wishes he was running against somebody else. But the reality is he's running against me. I disagree with the
Republican Party in the number of issues. I believe in gay marriage. I'm for immigration reform bill. I'm a green Republican. I believe that there is global warming and that we have something to do with that.
I also firmly believed that we need to have an expanded background check, the Toomey-Manchin bill. I'm ashamed that only four Republicans voted for this bill. And I think the NRA is completely wrong on this bill.
There are a lot of areas I don't agree with, with Republican Party on. And, again, Congressman Markey wishes he was running against somebody else other than me.

Keystone XL project brings jobs
Markey said the nation should end tax breaks for oil companies and other corporations. "Subsidizing the oil industry is like subsidizing a fish to swim and a bird to fly," Markey said. "You simply don't have to do it."Markey and Gomez split on the
proposed Keystone XL Pipeline, which would bring oil from Canada to Texas. Gomez said the project would create jobs, while Markey said the US would end up bearing all the environmental risk while the oil itself is dumped onto the international market.

Climate change is real, but don't disadvantage America
Climate change is real. However, while science says climate change is real, addressing the problem must be done rationally. Unfortunately, many solutions offered by politicians in Washington are not rational, and would put
America at a competitive disadvantage. We need a serious energy agenda that promotes private sector innovation in both the United States and in other countries around the world.

Wrong to stop the Keystone pipeline
I will work with President Obama when he is right, and will oppose him when he is wrong.
The Obama administration is wrong in stopping the Keystone pipeline, a project that will create jobs, drive down our energy costs, and help us to become energy independent.
