Free market energy policy: nuclear, coal & natural gas
Lee Bright supports an energy policy that is a free market solution. One that will lower costs, promote technological innovation, and reduce our dependence on foreign sources. But the Obama administration is pushing a misguided and economically
destructive "green energy" plan that centralizes power in Washington and ends up taking more money from taxpayers. It is essentially a backdoor tax to pay for more failed liberal policies. The result is economic stagnation, higher costs (especially for
manufacturers), and energy shortages.
Lee believes that America needs to do more to develop existing known supplies of oil and gas here in this country that are currently off-limits to exploration. Lee supports opening up more areas to exploration,
including offshore drilling, and ending wasteful subsidies to unproven technologies.
By encouraging nuclear, coal and natural gas production, Lee believes we can supply our economy with the energy it needs in a cost-effective manner.

Deal with waste, to remove obstacles to new nuclear plants
Bright believes that South Carolina has several important national interests: one specific includes the Savannah River Site and the Port of Charleston. Bright alleges that the federal government has failed "to fulfill its legal obligations under the
1982 Nuclear Waste Policy Act" which is "an ongoing obstacle to expanding additional nuclear plants." As senator, Bright will advocate completion of this project.
