"For nearly four years, the United States Senate has acted like an overbearing brakeman, halting progress on the Railroad Competition Act, while rural Montanans suffer under the non-competitive pricing of Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF)," Morrison said.
In April 2003, Senator Conrad Burns announced his sponsorship of the Railroad Competition Act, but the bill never made it out of committee. Burns reintroduced the bill in 2005, yet there have been no hearings - nor has the bill been voted on in the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, of which Burns is a member.
