Scott Jensen on Education

Start funding kids, not broken institutions

Gov. Tim Walz stressed that the return on state investments in things like education "comes back to you tenfold over." Walz said, "You get a choice here of a vision of Minnesota, one that defunds our public schools or you get an opportunity for a state that is inclusive."

Jensen highlighted lagging student test scores, rising violent crime and inflation during Walz's tenure. "We need to start funding kids, not broken institutions," said Jensen, who is pushing for student choice, where dollars would follow students to private, charter or public schools. He also condemned closures of schools during the pandemic, saying, "These kids are going to be paying the price of Tim Walz's irresponsible policy decisions for years to come."

Reopen schools instead of catering to teacher's unions

It is critical to get all of our students back into the classroom. Tim Walz's school lockdowns have irreparably harmed kids. Minnesota's public-school children have lost more than a year of critical in-person learning. This while neighboring states and private schools found a way to bring students back to the classroom where they belong. Meanwhile, Walz has ignored science and catered to Teacher's unions and put our kids needs second to politics.

Give parents the ability to pick the best school for kids

Education is not a political payoff. We need to fund our KIDS, not failed institutions. We must give parents the ability to pick the best school for their kids. Bureaucratic waste and burdensome administrative costs have put our students last. Minnesota on average spends nearly $13,000 per pupil. It's more than that in our urban core. We do not have the results to show for it. We must uplift our kids in public school and empower parents with the finances to make a CHOICE for their kids.
