Afghanistan is not as irresponsible as was Iraq

Should not have gone to Iraq, a war based on a false premise of weapons of mass destruction. Afghanistan is a home to terrorists, and while U.S. troops should be sent home soon, our engagement in Afghanistan is "not as irresponsible" as it was in Iraq. Bring the troops home from Afghanistan

In June 2011, President Obama pledged to bring home 10,000 troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2011 and to withdraw an additional 23,000 troops by September 2012. While the death of Osama Bin Laden is not "mission accomplished," it has gotten us closer than any other military solution we've tried to ending the threat of terrorism and making this country safer. It is time to end the war and transition to sustainable peace-building efforts, reducing the enormous costs in blood and treasure and redirecting our priorities to domestic needs. I support bringing a substantial number of U.S. combat troops home from Afghanistan according to the timeline proposed by President Obama.
