Jeff Kessler on Energy & Oil

Adequately fund Future Fund like other mineral-rich states

The West Virginia Future Fund is a permanent mineral trust fund that would collect a portion of the anticipated increase in severance fees collected from our natural resource industries and put it into a savings account for the future. This would help end the boom and bust cycle which has plagued West Virginia's economy over the years, and will create a permanent source of wealth and opportunity for the people of this great state. This fund is modeled after several similar successful programs in Alaska, Texas, Wyoming, North Dakota and other mineral rich states.

Money from the Future Fund can be used solely for the purposes of economic development and diversification, infrastructure improvements, education enhancements and tax relief for the citizens of West Virginia. As your Governor, Jeff will make sure the Future Fund is adequately funded.
