Invest in a 21st Century transportation system
Our roads are in such disrepair that driving in our state costs the average family an additional $341 per year in car repairs. The Pennsylvania Highway Information Association recently put the funding gap at $4.5 billion. Tom Wolf's business makes
and distributes kitchen cabinets across Pennsylvania to markets all over the US. Unfortunately, businesses like Tom's are often hampered by the high cost of transporting products on our poorly maintained roads. And a real transportation plan would put
thousands of people to work and help attract and retain businesses right here in Pennsylvania
The question facing Governor Corbett and the Republicans in the legislature seems to have elided into should we fix our bridges or not? Of course we should
fix our bridges--but that's not really the question. The question is what should a 21st Century transportation system look like in Pennsylvania that builds a thriving economy and a strong middle class for generations to come?

Infrastructure investment attracts business
Over the last three years, we've repaired or rebuilt 1,600 bridges, and more than 18,000 miles of roadways. And over the next decade, we're going to invest $2 billion more in rebuilding roads, highways, and bridges across our Commonwealth so that our
people can get to work and our products can get to market. Businesses don't invest in states that don't invest in education, infrastructure or job training.

Redevelopment project to revitalize the Pittston waterfront
Governor Tom Wolf announced last week new funding to revitalize the Pittston waterfront by converting an underused warehouse into a mixed-use facility with apartments, offices, retail space, and a business incubator.
"This comprehensive redevelopment project will be a noticeable update to a section of downtown Pittston that has a lot of potential, but not expansive use,"
Wolf said. "By renovating the structure and surrounding area, we will be creating jobs, expanding offerings for businesses, college students and residents, while opening up opportunities for more economic development."
Waterfront Management Group was
approved for a $2 million grant to rehabilitate a 101,997-square-foot warehouse at the corner of East Street and Kennedy Boulevard. The completed project is expected to have 27 apartments, a food court, and a business incubator with space for 36 units.
