Attacks Kyl for pushing anti-gay marriage amendment

Twenty-year Washington veteran Jon Kyl has had a couple of weeks he'd like to forget. He failed to prevent the loss of millions in Homeland Security funding for Arizona, while his pet political crusades - the gay marriage amendment and tax cuts for millionaires--were defeated on the Senate floor.

Strike One: Homeland Security: Last week, Jon Kyl watched as homeland security officials cut more than $18 million in Arizona homeland security funding.
Strike Two Federal Gay Marriage Amendment Kyl this week worked with Senate Republican leaders to push through the gay marriage amendment. In a floor statement on June 7th, Kyl said: "I have faith that this constitutional amendment process will work." The measure failed to pass a cloture motion 49-48 on Wednesday.

Strike Three: The "Paris Hilton Relief Act": Yesterday, Kyl's personal crusade to pass a tax cut for millionaires and billionaires by repealing the estate tax was rejected by the Senate. Source: Press release, "0-For-3" Jun 9, 2006
