Continue charter schools and other challenges to status quo

I believe that President Bush's efforts to bring accountability into the classroom were a great start, and that the goals embodied in "No Child Left Behind" are a great outline for bringing better results to our schools. I do not, however, believe that continuously increasing funding for education brings better results. I believe in challenging the status quo, and demanding more results for our investments in education. These include merit pay for the best teachers, stronger oversight on the spending practices of local school districts, continuing charter schools to provide opportunities to those children in need, and exploring vouchers for private and parochial education in the poorest communities so that those children can receive the same chances given to those in middle class and upper class communities.
