Jim Sykes on Health Care

Single-payer universal health care

Canada spends about 9% of its GDP as it provides basic health care coverage for all of its citizens. The awkward patchwork of health care spending in the US totals more than 13% of GDP and still more than 41 million Americans have no access or very limited access to health care. The only way to gain control over spiraling health care costs is through a single-payer universal access system similar to that of Canada.
