Create green economy and ensure clean water, air for all
The Green New Deal is based on principles I strongly support: dramatically reducing greenhouse gas emissions; working to create high-paying jobs in the green economy; and ensuring that clean air, clean water and healthy food are basic human rights.
Beyond that, the Green New Deal has a social justice component that resonates with my life's work of providing economic opportunities for historically overlooked citizens and ending all forms of bigotry and oppression.

Clean air and clean water are American birthrights
Too little effort has been put forward to curb air pollution in our most populous areas, and yet we know that clean air and clean water are American birthrights not American options. The preservation of open space, the protection of our
parks and wetlands, the dangers of toxic dumps and the unnecessary exposure to asbestos in the workplace must become environmental priorities in the United States Senate. What we don’t need is more silence on the subject.

Mfume supports the PVS survey question on greenhouse gases
Project Vote Smart inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Energy and Environment: Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?'
PVS self-description: "The Political Courage Test provides voters with positions on key issues. Historically, candidates have failed to complete our test due to the advice they receive from their advisors and out of fear of negative attack ads."
