Mike Miles on Energy & Oil

Investment in alternative fuels creates jobs

We need to invest in alternative fuels in order to get ahead of the next energy crisis--power grid failure, supply fluctuation, act of terrorism, etc. All of these have a dampening effect on the economy. Federal spending on alternative energy technology, including hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, wind energy, and solar technology, would create jobs, help clean our environment, and make us less energy dependent.

Promote a common sense energy policy

I will promote a common sense energy policy and one that anticipates future demands rather than merely reacts to shortages and crises. I will advance research and development for alternative sources of energy. I will promote the use of alternative fuels, including tax incentives for jobs in those fields. I support tax incentives for hybrid and similar fuel efficient and clean automobiles.

Develop a Common Sense Energy Policy

Ben Campbell has been on the energy committee in the Senate and has done nothing to advance an energy policy that will help Colorado or the nation meet its needs without destroying the environment. Campbell's only answer is a "drill and kill" energy policy - drill for more oil and gas, and kill environmental protections in order to do so. There has been no vision, no effective solution, no leadership.

I will go to Washington to bring better funding for our state to improve and expand mass transit for our rapidly growing state.
