Brian Macdonald on Principles & Values

Republican Senate Challenger

Kennedy should have voted to convict Clinton of perjury

President Clinton committed perjury [and hence] violated the oath of office in which he swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States. As a leader of the Democratic Party, Senator Kennedy should have done the right thing and told President Clinton that he must resign because he lied under oath. Presidential perjury can not be tolerated, and anyone who voted to acquit President Clinton during the impeachment proceedings has tarnished the integrity of their office.

Restrictions on religion only apply to establishing churches

The beginning of the First Amendment to the US Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ". In Black's Law Dictionary, "establish" is defined as "to make or form; to bring about or into existence." I believe that the Founding Fathers only intended to prevent the formation of a Church of the United States, similar to the Church of England.
