We must confront our problems; not just more of the same

In response to these looming crises, Washington serves up more of the same: more tax cuts, more pandering to oil and big business, and 'staying the course' in Iraq.

My view is different. I believe we must confront our problems head on. The choices we make now will determine the kind of world our children will live in. I stand for:

• Bring our troops home now
• Redirect the military budget
• Provide universal health care
• Protect civil rights and liberties
• Equality regardless of gender or sexual orientation
• Defend reproductive rights
• Fully fund veterans' benefits
• Protect the environment
• Progressive and fair taxation
