"Three strikes" locks away otherwise productive people
Q: What do you think about mandatory Three Strikes sentencing laws?A: Strongly Oppose. `Three strikes' statutes have been used to lock away hundreds of thousands of young people, poor people, African Americans and other people of color in prisons and
prevent them from living productive lives. It has resulted in the United States locking up a greater proportion of its citizens than any other country in the world. It has overwhelmed our criminal justice system, wasting billions in tax-payer dollars.
