Rae Vogeler on Welfare & Poverty

Church-based social services risks tax-funded discrimination

Q: Should we allow churches to provide welfare services?

A: Oppose. Increased efforts to shift public funding for social services to religious organizations -- without safeguards to prevent discrimination in employment or services -- pose great dangers and amounts to tax-payer funded discrimination. Welfare services should be provided by the government, where they are under public scrutiny and control.
