Fredrick Love on Civil Rights

DEI provides a richness to all of our campuses

Sen. Fred Love said that he wanted to formally announce his opposition to Sullivan's future legislation. "I'm not sure why this attack on DEI is necessary, but I'm going on record saying I'm going to be against this legislation because I feel like diversity, equity and inclusion provides a richness to all of our campuses," Love said.

Bathroom bill makes bad assumptions about transgender people

Adults who enter and remain in a facility that does not align with their gender assigned at birth would risk criminal charges of sexual indecency with a child if they are aware that minors are present, the bill states. Sen. Fredrick Love said the bill makes "a bad assumption" that transgender people are guaranteed to hurt children, and he reminded the Senate that it was once illegal for Black Arkansans to share bathrooms with white Arkansans.
