Jack McMullen on War & Peace

Iraq diplomacy failed for 20 years-Army succeeded in 6 weeks

Since toppling the region's largest standing army in Iraq and removing its most feared dictator - in just six weeks - the US has accomplished what two decades of diplomacy failed to do.

Only now has Libya given up development of weapons of mass destruction. For the first time in recent memory, Syria handed to Turkish authorities 22 terrorists responsible for the recent Istanbul car bombings. And for the first time in 18 years Iran has agreed to surprise UN nuclear inspections.

Perhaps most importantly, in taking the fight to our terrorist tormentors where they live, we have prevented wide-scale attacks on our citizens where we live.

It is far better to have trained and equipped forces fighting our determined enemies in a war zone than to have our police and firefighters combating terrorism in the streets of New York or Chicago.
